Cancer charity urging Lanarkshire residents to join virtual walking challenge

Beatson Cancer Charity is going virtual next month with its now annual Off the Beatson Track 10k challenge.

Last year more than 1000 people took part in the first ever virtual event, raising over £100,000 into the bargain.

And it is hoped this year even more people will don their favourite trainers or walking boots to enjoy the benefits of walking and wellness, whilst raising funds.

This year's virtual challenge will take place on the weekend of June 12-13, to prioritise the health and safety of the community, given the pandemic.

People are asked to “wear yellow and enjoy yourself”, whether able to walk in their neighbourhood, local park or favourite rambling spot in Scotland.

It costs £15 per person to register and kids under 12 go free; and at the end of the walk everyone will receive a medal, a t-shirt and the knowledge that they have funded lifesaving cancer care.

The charity was keen to find a way to offer two days of opportunities to keep the much-loved experience in the calendar - and a way to continue raising funds for cancer research and its services.

Register for the Off the Beatson Track 10k here or call 0141 212 0505.
