Canberrans should soak up Easter sunshine before weather cools

Winter coats can remain in the closet for a bit longer, as Canberrans are expected to enjoy relatively warm weather before turning heaters back on come Anzac Day.

Territorians have been enjoying fresh air this Easter weekend, rocking out at the National Folk Festival and picnicking at the lake.

Easter Sunday and Easter Monday will see sunny skies, with the Bureau of Meteorology predicting a maximum temperature of 23 degrees.

There is zero chance of rain on Resurrection Sunday, and only a five per cent chance skies will open up on Monday.

Those lucky enough to have Monday's public holiday off work should enjoy it, because the fortnight ahead is expected to cool as Winter looms.

Tuesday is likely to see a maximum temperature of 20 degrees with a 60 per cent chance of rain.

Wednesday will welcome the year's first Taurus babies, with the temperature remaining suitably stubborn through to Thursday at a maximum of 18 degrees on both days.

Convention has it Canberrans should not turn the heater on until Anzac Day, which may be a struggle on Friday, April 22 which is predicted to drop as low as four degrees Celsius.

BOM's weather forecast for next weekend is yet to be published, but a safe bet is to soak up the sun's rays while you can over Easter.
