Canberrans call on SES for help amid windy and wet weather

Most of the calls were fallen trees (not pictured). Picture: Supplied

The ACT State Emergency Service have received 11 calls for help from people struggling with wet weather and gusty winds in the ACT.

Nine of these calls had not been resolved by Tuesday afternoon, despite three SES crews working to help people.

The majority of calls have been due to fallen trees.

"With these weather conditions expected to continue overnight and into tomorrow, Canberrans are asked to monitor the situation and take precautions," said SES.

You should:

  • Move your car under cover or away from trees
  • Secure or put away loose items around your house, yard and balcony
  • Keep at least 8 metres away from fallen power lines or objects that may be energised, such as fences
  • Stay indoors away from windows

For emergency help in flood and storms, call the ACTSES on 132 500.
