Canberra woman caught drink driving on suspended licence twice in an hour

The driver's licence had already been suspended when she was first stopped.

A 20-year-old Canberra woman will face court on a slew of charges after being caught driving illegally by police twice in one night.

ACT Policing said the woman was first stopped in the suburb of Macquarie about 9:00pm.

She blew 0.065 on the breathalyser test back at the Belconnen Police Station and it was also revealed her licence was suspended.

Police issued her with a further 90-day immediate suspension notice and released from custody.

Then, just after 10:00pm, a car was seen being driving down Hennessy Street in Belconnen without its headlights on.

Police pulled the driver over only to find it was the same woman who had been released from custody minutes earlier.

This time the suspended driver returned a blood alcohol level of 0.042 and was arrested and taken to the ACT watch house, where she was charged with several offences.

Those charges include two counts of driving with a suspended licence, driving with suspended registration, failing an alcohol screening test and a special driver prescribed concentration of alcohol charge.
