Canberra teen who stabbed boy in Weston skate park brawl faces charges of assault and burglary

A teenager who was sentenced for a stabbing during a brawl at the Weston skate park earlier this year is back behind bars on charges of burglary and assault.

The 17-year-old was acquitted of murder at a trial earlier in the year, but pleaded guilty to stabbing another person.

He was only 15 at the time of the offence, when he became involved in a brawl at the park.

The fight had been set up after an angry social media exchange between two other people.

One man died after receiving multiple stab wounds.

The boy always denied killing anyone but said he'd found a knife on the ground and stabbed the other victim, who he feared was beating his friend in a fight.

The remainder of his 13-month sentence was suspended, and he was placed on a two-year good behaviour order in August.

But this week he was arrested again after he allegedly broke into a home, where he was caught rummaging through a room.

Police allege he was interrupted by a woman, who he is accused of assaulting.

The boy sought bail in the ACT Children's Court today.

Magistrate Jane Campbell said it had only been two weeks since she had sentenced him over a separate incident, when he'd hit someone with a brick.

She said there was too high a risk of reoffending and refused bail

The boy will remain in custody until his next appearance next month.
