Canberra's first urban street art festival has been rescheduled from November 2021 to March next year.

Originally planned for the first weekend of November 2021, the festival Surface will now be held from Friday, March 4 until Sunday, March 6 2022.

"Planning is well underway toward delivering this exciting new three-day festival for the City centre, Braddon as well as other parts of Canberra," Graffiti Management Coordinator Lisa Petheram said.

"Already 13 walls have been secured in the Braddon and Civic areas that will be used as canvases for the big event. More walls will be announced as we continue to engage with the local community."

Art will appear in laneways and streets in the city and Braddon, with pop up exhibitions in Woden and Weston Creek.

At least 15 artists will spend three days painting walls, showcasing a diversity of themes and subjects.

"Coordinated activities are planned to include workshops, panel talks and other events relating to street art, graffiti and urban culture," Ms Petheram said.

"As we get closer to the new date, more details will be released on what is set to be a valuable addition to Canberra's events calendar."

The Surface urban art festival will be on in Braddon and Canberra City from March 4-6, 2022. More details on Surface can be found at www.surfacefest.com.au.
