Canberra stars scoop the pool at national radio awards

Canberra commercial radio stations have taken home a swag of awards at the Australian Commercial Radio Awards, highlighting the capital's talent on the national stage.

In total Southern Cross Austereo (SCA) took out 32 awards across its brands at the 20/21 Australian Commercial Radio Awards, the most of any radio and audio network. With more than 100 nominations from SCA and its brands, Canberra-based programs and presenters took out seven awards.

Stephen Cenatiempo went home with two awards after he was named best current affairs presenter and best talk presenter in the provincial category for his breakfast show on 2CC Talking Canberra.

Ellie Angel-Mobbs was named best entertainment presenter in the provincial category for her weekend breakfast show on Hit 104.7.

Best music presenter in the provincial category was awarded to Gemma Maddox at Hit 104.7.

For 2020 and 2021 SCA continued community outreach and engagement and have been recognised for its presence in the community.

SCA chief content officer Dave Cameron said the number of award wins for SCA across such a large number of its stations and podcasts was a true testament to the depth of talented people at the company.

"In what were two very challenging years, our people delivered some outstanding initiatives. I'd like to sincerely congratulate all the winners and all the teams that helped along the way," he said.
