Canberra's sunny spring days set to disappear with snow forecast for nearby mountains

Expect more cold weather in Canberra throughout the week.

Canberra is set to face a winter blast over the next week with a chance of snow in neighbouring alpine regions.

On Thursday, Friday and Saturday there is a high chance of snow showers at both Thredbo and Perisher.

Thredbo is forecast to have a top temperature of -1 degree and a low of -3 tomorrow and a minimum of -4 degrees and a top of -2 on Friday.

Perisher will have a top of 1 degrees and a minimum of -2 degrees on Thursday, and a maximum of 1 and minimum of -3 degrees on Friday. Saturday has a low of -4 degrees and a high of 1 degree.

Meanwhile in Canberra, mild springtime weather will disappear, as temperatures are expected to drop over the week.

On Thursday, Canberrans can expect a top of 13 degrees with a minimum of 4 degrees.

Temperatures will reduce further on Friday and Saturday, with both days likely to reach a top of 12 degrees. The expected minimums on Friday and Saturday are 2 degrees and 1 degree respectively.

It will be a cold morning on Sunday with a minimum of -1 degrees and a top of 14 degrees.

The temperature will heat up slightly on Monday and Tuesday with a top of 16 on Monday and a top of 18 on Tuesday.
