A late shot on goal by Canberra's journalists hit the post, handing victory to the local musicians by just three points in the third annual Reclink Community Cup AFL match on Sunday.

A big, boisterous crowd of supporters turned up at Jamison Oval for the charity match between The Limestones (musicians) and The Noise (journalists), with modified rules applied which disallowed women players from being tackled by the men.

The match was a see-sawing affair, with The Noise hitting the front in the second quarter and some strong participation from a number of Canberra Times journalists.

It came down to the final kick on goal just two minutes from the siren but when the ball struck the post, The Limestones ran out winners, 52 points to 49.

Best on ground overall was Jonah Lafferty, who played for The Limestones. Best on ground for The Noise team was ABC journalist Tom Maddocks, while Toby Morwitch was best for The Limestones.

Upwards of $5000 was raised by the match, with all proceeds going to Reclink.
