Canberra man faces court over alleged murder of 9yo son

Flowers left at the home on Bittermann Street where an eight-year-old boy was allegedly murdered.

A Canberra man has faced court over the alleged murder of his nine-year-old son in the Gungahlin suburb of Jacka.

Graham Stuart Dillon, 37, was charged with murder after his son Bradyn died in hospital on Monday night.

Earlier in the evening police were called to Dillon's house, where they found the boy seriously injured.

A neighbour said she saw the paramedics arrive just before 8:00pm.

"The paramedics were taken in... and within a minute I saw the paramedic carrying out the little boy, what looked to be a lifeless little boy," she said.

No information was given in court about the nature of the boy's injuries.

Neighbours told the ABC they did not hear any noises from the home on Monday night, before police and paramedics had arrived.

Forensic officers combed the home and surrounding yard for evidence and are expected to remain at the house for some time.

Part of Bittermann Street was closed to traffic for all of Monday night and some of Tuesday morning.

Dillon did not apply for bail during the brief appearance, and will be back in court in March.

Police said their investigation was ongoing.
