Canary Wharf is welcoming back its Winter Lights for the sixth successive year this week, with spectacular displays and immersive light exhibitions arriving across E14.
There are 25 installations included this year’s collection, which runs until Saturday January 25 in One Canada Square.
Visitors can expect to find immersive displays and thought provoking light art – and it’s totally free to attend.
Highlights include Bit.Fall by Julious Popp – an ever-changing word display formed from illuminated water droplets in Chancellor Passage – as well as Liquid Sound by Entertainment Effects in Cabot Square, which transforms the water fountain into a music and lights display. Affinity by Amigo & Amigo, meanwhile, is constructed from of a series of orbs representing the connectivity of the human brain.
Sky on Earth by Uaii Studio is turning Columbus Courtyard into a life-sized cloud made of foam, which visitors can walk through. Lactolight in Westferry Circus, meanwhile, has created a video screen from 7,344 recycled plastic milk bottles, highlighting the dangers of single-use plastics.
Organisers have put together a map to navigate all 25 installations, which can be found here. The full route takes 90 minutes to complete, beginning by the middle dock and coming to a close at the Ten Bank Street Park.
As well as light displays, there will also be three street food hubs to enjoy on the route located in Cabot Square, Montgomery Square and Crossrail Place. Dishes will be on offer from the likes of Grate Rostis, 3 Little Pigs, The Duckshed and Belgian Waffle Tuk.
