Canal side restaurant and bar with ‘suntrap’ terrace in Castlefield locals are raving about

A canal side bar is quickly becoming a popular spot among visitors for its 'suntrap' terrace.

Dukes 92, is getting rave reviews not least for its position next the water, meaning you can really soak up the recent good weather.

However, the Castlefield venue is not much of a hidden gem as according to a member on our sister site 2Chill , it can get quite busy.

Although she has deemed it worthy of a five-star rating, so what can visitors expect besides somewhere to soak up the sun?

According to its website, it’s one of the most visited bars in Manchester, and 2Chill user Susan Griffin appears to back that up describing it as ‘bustling’.

Her five-star recommendation read: “This canal side bar in Castlefield is a real sun trap, so it’s no surprise it’s one of the busiest spots in the city during the summer.

“If you’re after a bit of bustle with your beverage then this is the spot.”

Sounds like it’s got quite the vibe.

Have you visited Dukes 92? Do you agree with Susan’s recommendation? Or maybe you’ve found what you think is the perfect waterside spot. Sign up and leave your recommendation at 2Chill .

What’s on the menu?

Although this might be the perfect place for a few beverages in the sun, Dukes 92 also serves food, although there's currently a limited menu for the time being due to the number of chefs available in the kitchen.

The menu includes:

  • Cider-battered cod

  • Chicken & coconut noodle bowl

  • Warm goats’ cheese salad

  • Malayan duck curry

It also serves steaks, Sunday roasts and some sharing pizza boards while the desserts sound pretty amazing too - anyone for a chocolate volcano?

For those there for the drinks, it has an extensive wine menu as well as serving beers, ciders and cocktails, plus the ultimate summer drink - an Aperol spritz.

Dukes 92 is open from 11.30am - 11pm Sunday to Thursday and until 1am on Fridays and Saturdays. Children are welcome until 8.30pm and dogs are allowed outside only.
