Canadian sportswear brand moves into bigger city store

Canadian sportswear brand Lululemon is to move in to a larger Glasgow store just yards from its old one.

The shop which boasts men's trousers with "anti ball-crushing technology" will switch from the boutique unit has occupied at 15 Royal Exchange Square to two floors at number 18/20.

Lululemon bills its women's and men's clothes as yoga-inspired and has been in Glasgow since 2015. It also has a store in Edinburgh, one of 14 in the UK. It will host free weekly classes at the Glasgow shop led by lululemon Ambassadors – local leaders in yoga, health and fitness.

The lease on the new 2,700 sq ft premises was secured by property adviser CBRE .

Kevin Sims, senior director of CBRE’s retail Scotland division, said: “As a premium performance apparel brand with a fast-growing customer base in Scotland, lululemon was keen to secure new larger premises in a prime Glasgow city centre location to support its continued growth. We were therefore very pleased that 18/20 Royal Exchange Square met all of the company’s requirements.”

Lululemon was founded in Vancouver in 1998 and produces clothes and accessories for activities including yoga and running, and non-sporting "athleisure" use.

Culverwell acted on behalf of the owners of 18/20 Royal Exchange Square and Gardner & Co for the landlords.
