Canada travel rules ease for vaccinated Brits today with Covid test changes

Visiting Canada just got a little easier for Brits who are vaccinated against Covid as the country has eased its travel rules today.

Previously, double jabbed Brits could visit Canada but needed proof of a negative PCR test taken within 72 hours of arrival.

However as of today (February 28), you won't be required to have a PCR test - instead, you can opt for an antigen test the day before travel instead.

Arrivals may still be subject to testing when they arrive in Canada, but the country has also scrapped a requirement to quarantine while awaiting the results. Children under 12 years old who travel with fully vaccinated adults continue to be exempt from quarantine.

Those who are unvaccinated or partially vaccinated against Covid will not be able to enter Canada unless they meet specific exemptions, and even then they will still be required to take Covid tests and quarantine for 14 days.

Canada's not the only country to be easing its Covid travel rules for holidaymakers.

In recent months countries including Greece, France, Portugal and Belgium have all axed Covid test rules for vaccinated travellers, while Tunisia ended quarantine rules for holidaymakers.

Meanwhile Iceland scrapped all its Covid entry rules, making it one of three countries without travel rules that Brits can now visit.

It's not just European destinations which are relaxing their entry requirements.

Vietnam recently announced plans to welcome back holidaymakers three months earlier than planned, while Australia began to welcome back tourists this month including Brits, and New Zealand unveiled a phased reopening of its borders which could see the majority of Brits able to visit in the fourth phase due to take place 'no later than July'.

Throw in the fact that the UK's own travel rules have eased, and it's not surprising that travel firms have seen a a surge in holiday bookings.
