Canada: Quebec looks to African nurses to meet shortage of caregivers

Facing a massive shortage of workers in the healthcare sector, Canada's French-speaking province of Quebec has launched a major recruitment drive in Africa. The goal is to attract 1,000 Francophone nurses in the space of two years. With this $65 million programme, the provincial government hopes it will help reverse the decline of the French language and encourage young families to settle in Quebec's regions with older populations.
