Canada Coombe: Man suffers 'serious injuries' after being struck by tree

A man has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after being struck by a falling tree near Weston-super-Mare.

Police and paramedics were called to Canada Coombe, Hutton this morning (February 22) to reports a man had been injured.

He was rushed to hospital with serious injuries.

It is understood he was struck by a falling tree at a property in Hutton, and the Health and Safety Executive has been notified.

An Avon and Somerset police spokesman said: "“We were called at 10.48am today to assist the ambulance service after a man was seriously injured by a falling tree at a property in Hutton.

“The man has been taken to Southmead Hospital for treatment.

The route remains closed at the Hutton and Bleadon end, and motorists have been urged to avoid the area.
