Can you turn off Match of the Day crowd noise off using red button?

Match of the Day will play crowd noise during highlights of matches and will not give fans the option to turn them off.

Viewers have been split over whether automated crowd noise adds or subtracts to the experience of watching a behind-closed-doors match.

Whilst some prefer watching a game with canned crowd noise, Wednesday’s Premier League return on Sky Sports saw many utilising the option to watch the game without artificial reactions.

BT Sport and the BBC will also be adding fake crowd noise to their live coverage of games, but, like Sky Sports, both broadcasters will be allowing fans to turn the feature off.

However, the Daily Mail report that, in contrast to their live coverage, the BBC’s Match of the Day highlights show will not give fans the opportunity to mute crowd noise.

Match of the Day will be aired more frequently during the Premier League’s return, giving fans plenty of opportunity to catch up on matches they might have missed.

The first episode will be on Saturday night, followed by highlights on Wednesday and Thursday.

Any fan not wishing to hear the fake crowd noise during these shows will be left disappointed, however, with the only option being to mute the whole programme instead.

This is not the case for the BBC’s live matches, which will offer viewers the chance to mute the noise via the red button.

The BBC’s first live match, which is expected to be the most-watched match in Premier League history due to its wide availability, is Saturday’s game between Bournemouth and Crystal Palace.

Their second match will be Everton’s trip to Norwich City on Wednesday followed by Manchester City’s trip to Southampton.

The BBC’s final live match is yet to be announced.
