Wirral is surrounded by beautiful beaches, each with their own unique selling points.
West Kirby beach is no exception offering stunning views out to Wales and the open Irish Sea.
At just 300m long West Kirby beach may be small, but it sure is popular. On a sunny day it’s jam-packed with sun-worshipers, windsurfers and people making the two-mile trek to Hilbre Island and if you are lucky you may even spot a seal in the waters off the coast.
Next to the beach is Marine Lake; a 52 acre, five-foot deep saltwater lake, enclosed by a walkway and home to the Wirral Sailing School. The town itself has a great choice of shops, cafes, wine bars and restaurants, adding to its daytripper appeal.
Can you swim at West Kirby beach?
Yes, you can swim at West Kirby and the bathing water is classified as 'excellent' by the government's Environment Agency, so perfect for paddling with the little ones.

Opening times: Open all year round
Lifeguard cover: Yes
Parking: You can park along the promenade, but it may be difficult to get a spot. Always check the signs. Parking at Morrisons is for customers only.
Dog friendly: Yes
Toilets: The public toilets are located by the Marine Lake in the same building as the sailing school. There is a 30p charge. There is also public toilets on Hilbre Island, if you fancy the walk.
Local shops: There is a variety of shops, cafes and restaurants
Ice cream: There is ALWAYS an ice cream van along the promenade
Travelling to Hilbre Island: If you do decide to walk out to Hilbre Island, please ensure you check the tide times otherwise you may get cut off from the mainland by the tide.
