Can you still order a takeaway after the new 10pm lockdown curfew?

New lockdown restrictions came into force across the country this week as coronavirus cases continue to rise.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced the new rules when he addressed the nation on Tuesday night, ordering hospitality venues to offer table-service only and to close by 10pm.

As with the nationwide lockdown implemented in March, takeaways offering a delivery service can continue to operate.

The government guidelines state that the 10pm curfew will apply to cafes, bars, pubs and restaurants, as well as a host of other hospitality venues.

However, businesses selling food for consumption off the premises can continue to do so after the 10pm curfew as long as it is via a delivery service or drive-thru.

McDonald’s reassured customers yesterday that it will continue to offer McDelivery through Uber Eats and Just Eat after 10pm.

Delivery services Deliveroo and Uber Eats have confirmed they will continue to offer their services after the 10pm curfew in messages to customers.
