Can you spot yourself in our Rugby World Cup gallery? Fans pack out pubs for 9am kick-off

Rugby fans packed out the country's pubs on Saturday as England fell just short in the Rugby World Cup Final against South Africa.

The 9am kick-off didn't stop bars in Newcastle from screening the match as supporters woke up early for the showdown at the International Stadium Yokohama in Japan.

Photographer Simon Greener was at Newcastle city centre venue Stack capturing the action.

This was the third time South Africa have lifted the William Webb Ellis cup.  They put in a commanding performance, beating England 32-12.

England were trailing 12-6 going into the interval, and never looked close to pulling it back.

Second half tries from Makazole Mapimpi and Cheslin Kolbe gave the Boks a dominant 32-12 win, as Eddie Jones' men failed to live up to the standards they set in last week's unforgettable win over New Zealand.

Owen Farrell and Handre Pollard traded penalties in an at-times brutal contest, before the Boks broke away late on to secure glory.

However, there were still smiles on fans' faces as they watched the brave performance.

Fiona Little and Carol Pettinger from Gosforth said England “weren’t the same team that were out last week - it’s disappointing but we’ve come second".

While Laura-Marie Bruce from Newcastle said: “South Africa were the stronger team, they were deserving winners but it’s disappointing.”
