Can you solve this math puzzle? Hint: It has two answers!

Mathematics puzzles are our favorite as they help in improving our cognitive abilities and help us know how well we fare in problems other than the simple and straightforward ones!

The question is: "If 1+4=5, 2+5=12, 3+6=21, then what is 8+11=?"

The puzzle has baffled many. Several people have shared their explanation on various public platforms about the answers.

"The answer is 96"

This question has been shared and discussed several times on question and answer platform, Quora.

"There is a logic to solve this question which we can understand from the prior examples

The explanation goes like this:

1+4=5. This may seem pretty obvious.

But the next 2+5=12 would definitely confuse people here.

So the logic to getting the answer is First to multiply the two numbers and then add the first number to the product.

Let's see 2+5 = (2×5)+2=10+2 =12 which is the answer we wanted.

Next one is 3+6= 21= (3×6)+3 =18+3= 21

The main problem

8+11= (8×11)+8= 88+8= 96

Therefore the correct answer to the question 8+11= 96.

"The answer is 40"

Wait, what?

40 is also the possible answer, explains another person.

1+4=5

2+5=7+5=12

3+6=9+12=21

11+8=19+21=40

Several other people have given answers like 41, 34 which seems to be erratic and not pattern based.

So, what is the correct answer you think? Do share your views.
