Can you solve the decades-old mystery of the identically-tall Lanarkshire football team?

The identity of the Zodiac killer; just what is going on in the Bermuda Triangle?; why is there never a happy Christmas in Albert Square ? It's fair to say there are many unsolved mysteries in the world.

But what about the old football team who appeared to all be of the same relatively diminutive stature?

Coatbridge comic-book king Mark Millar has posed a challenge to his deductive on-the-ball Twitter followers after highlighting a tweeted photo of an Albion Rovers team photo from decades ago.

The image shows the Rovers squad all standing in a line - and you'd be able to draw a straight line with a ruler above their heads due to their identical-looking heights.

The picture was tweeted by Long Lost Pal with the message, "This keeps me up at night. Why is everyone in the Rovers team the identical height and also so small?"

And Kick-Ass creator Mark posed the following question in response: "Can anyone explain this????"

Some would-be Sherlock Holmes' have offered up their explanations to Mark, including Coatbridge school St Andrew's High's English department who tweeted: "It’s been edited to look like that... the curvature explanation would not would not account for the optical illusion unless the camera was also off axis!"

Old Rovers pics posted: "I have tried to get answers a few times. One of the freakiest photos ever. Ally Graham (furthest right) was 6’3” while Paul Teevan (2nd left) was about 5’5"."

Kevin Wright asked: "Is it something to do with them lined up along the centre circle rather than a straight line?"

While Seán Ó Donnghaile quipped: "It's a life-like Subbuteo team."
