Plenty of club legends have picked up the prestigious award over the decades, with a select few earning the title on more than one occasion.
Alan Gowling was the recipient of the club's first award winner in the 1975/76 campaign, quickly followed by the likes of Micky Burns, Irving Nattrass, Peter Withe and Alan Shoulder.
Kevin Keegan and Peter Beardsley were both two-time winners in the 1980s, with Paul Gascoigne and Mick Quinn also adding their names to the illustrious list.
Gavin Peacock was the last winner of the award before the launch of the Premier League for the 1992/93 campaign.
