Can you handle a hot vindaloo? Then try the curry that they say is 'like a drill through your tongue'

Think you can handle a scorchingly hot curry?

Then take up the challenge laid down at The Crooked Skewer restaurant in Hull for those daring enough to try their curry that they say is "like a drill through your tongue".

Planning for the contest is still in its early stages  but head chef Aminul Choudhury is hoping to set it up for the end of November, where contestants will take part in a "Circle of Fire," reports HullLive.

Mr Choudhury said: "I'm thinking of calling it The Volcano.

"It is not a pleasant experience to try a curry this hot but we want to make a record for Hull. The way I am going to set it up is to create a circle of fire for an elite roundtable where people will go through stages trying the curry.

"It is a devilishly fiery curry that will be like a drill going through your tongue and I am not joking. It is going to be a little bit of drama but it will be a bit of fun and entertainment."

The winner of the challenge will receive a £200 food voucher at Crooked Skewer as well as £100 donated to a charity of their choice.

The curry itself is made using Carolina Reaper peppers which measure up to 2.2m on the Schoville Heat Scale, and is then turned into a powder and reduced by a factor of ten.

The Crooked Skewer announced the challenge on Facebook, where it has gained a lot of interest with over 200 comments from people daring enough to take on the challenge.

The restaurant has asked for anyone still interested in taking part to comment on the post and updates will follow.

Although an official date is yet to be set, Mr Choudhury is hoping to arrange the competition for Monday, November 25, in The Crooked Skewer at 7pm.
