'Can't wait' - Tottenham fans can't believe it as Mauricio Pochettino on verge of first trophy

Mauricio Pochettino came very close to winning a trophy at Tottenham.

The Argentine turned the club into Champions League regulars during his five-and-a-half years in north London and took the club to the brink of glory by guiding them to the Champions League final in 2019.

But he could not get them over the line and it was often a stick that was used to beat him with when he was described as one of the leading managers in the game - that he has not won a trophy yet.

However, that could all change in less than two weeks in his new job.

Former Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino appointed Paris St Germain head coach

Pochettino was named as the new head coach of Paris Saint-Germain at the beginning of 2021 and two weeks later he has a cup final to enjoy.

PSG take on Marseille in the Trophee des Champions on Wednesday night - France's version of the League Cup.

And it would be quite the story if he were to win a trophy in his first few weeks as boss, after failing to do so in more than five years at Spurs.

It is a situation that is not lost on Spurs fans.

And not only could Pochettino win his first piece of silverware, if he does so it will be at the expense of another former Tottenham manager too.

Andre Villas-Boas is currently in charge at Marseille, PSG's opponents on Wednesday night.

And that has split the Spurs fanbase over who they want to win, with Villas-Boas well regarded by certain sections of the supporters.
