Chelsea fans have been expressing their excitement for Xavier Mbuyamba after the defender’s latest social media post.
The defender took to Twitter on Thursday to share images of him sporting a retro Chelsea shirt captioned: “So many classics in the wardrobe."
The post of course got supporters talking, with some even anticipating Mbuyamba’s debut sooner rather than later.
He was signed from Barcelona’s academy in 2020 and has gone on to progress through the age groups at Stamford Bridge.
Mbuyamba has not yet made his debut for the first-team but appears to be firmly in Thomas Tuchel’s thoughts having been handed a place on the bench for the Blues’ Carabao Cup victory against Aston Villa.
So far this term, the Dutchman has appeared on seven occasions for Chelsea’s U23s and notched an assist in their victory against Exeter City in the EFL Trophy.
He has penned a contract until the summer of 2023 so has plenty of time to catch the eye should he harbour hopes of breaking into the first-team at Stamford Bridge in the near future.

Should Mbuyamba break through in the near future, he would just be the latest in a long line of success stories from Chelsea’s academy.
Mason Mount is already a fully-fledged member of the first-team, whilst fellow defender Trevoh Chalobah has also progressed excellently having been handed an opportunity by Thomas Tuchel.
