‘Can’t wait to get home and start a fight’: Wisconsin woman borrows husband’s self-help book. Then she finds something inside

A woman found a shocking item hidden within her husband’s self-help book, sparking debate about their relationship on social media.

In a video with over 2.3 million views, TikToker Adilene Meyers (@adilenecapetillo) sits in a pedicure chair. She holds the book she borrowed from her husband, “The Power of Now” by Eckhart Tolle, and flips it open to a random page.

She sees a photobooth picture of her husband and another woman used as a bookmark.

On-screen text reads, “Borrowed my husband’s book and found the cutest bookmark (pictures with a different girl).”

She continues in the caption, “Can’t wait to get home and start a fight about this one #retroactive jealousy.”

Is her retroactive jealousy over the old pictures normal?

According to the Cleveland Clinic, it can be normal to feel jealous when confronted with your partner’s past relationships. However, if thoughts of your partner’s past begin clouding your present relationship, it could be a sign of anxiety, depression, or relationship OCD.

In the comments, viewers share their own experiences with retroactive jealousy.

“My bf’s mom offered me tea and asked me to pick a mug. I chose a plain black one. The whole table went quiet, just exchanged glances,” one writes. “Turns out the mug wasn’t just black — heat revealed a lovely photo… of him and his ex.”

“My ex-husband had a tote full of his ex-girlfriend’s letters and stuff. I know u had a past but we were married, and moved twice, why the tote moved with us??” another says.

“My bf wanted to bring his ex gf’s relationship milestones journal with him when we moved and when I told him no, he wanted to leave it at his parents’, but i made him throw it in the trash bc what the helly,” a third shares.

Is her husband in the wrong?

Commenters weigh in on whether Meyers should confront her husband about the photobooth bookmark.

“Even if it’s an old picture.. I’m starting a fight,” one says.

“It’s not about the fact he has a memory. It’s about the fact he picked THAT TO BE A BOOKMARK,” another points out.

“He better have a good explanation for that one,” a third writes.

In a follow-up video, Meyers clarifies that her husband hadn’t opened the book since they met and didn’t realize the bookmark was still in it.

“I know he’s not out here using someone else’s picture as a bookmark. At least I hope,” she says.

Meyers says her husband told her the woman in the picture is a classmate from his freshman year of college, and they did not date.

She notes that she didn’t start a fight with her husband and instead hung the photo on their fridge as a joke.
