'Can't let what's happened' - John Barnes delivers blunt verdict on Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool future

Former Liverpool midfielder John Barnes insists Jurgen Klopp is still the best man to hold the reins at Anfield despite recent poor performances in the Premier League.

Klopp took over from former manager Brendan Rodgers in October 2015, with Liverpool languishing in tenth position in the Premier League after a feeble return of twelve points from their opening eight games. But since then the former Borussia Dortmund manager has masterminded incredible success on Merseyside; winning the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup and League Cup. As well as the Community Shield, Club World Cup and Super Cup.

However, this season has perhaps been the most testing for Liverpool and their supporters since Klopp first descended on Merseyside over seven years ago. Liverpool have endured a stuttering start to their Premier League campaign and currently sit eight points behind Newcastle United, who occupy the fourth and final Champions League qualification place. An apparent season-altering victory over Manchester City last month fell in vain as the Reds followed up their resounding effort over the league's reigning champions with successive defeats to Nottingham Forest and Leeds United.

But despite their obvious domestic struggles, Barnes believes talk of Klopp and his seventh-year hiccup are premature - insisting he is still the right man for the rebuilding job that awaits at Anfield.

"Jurgen Klopp's the best man for any job," Barnes told BonusCodeBets. "He's the best manager for the best team in the world. They won't find a better manager than him. You can't let what's happened in the last five or six last games or this season get in the way of that."
