'Can't eat inside': Edinburgh restaurant hit back at restrictions with witty outdoor dining protest

Edinburgh restaurant Chez Jules have staged their own 'mini protest' towards the Scottish Government's lockdown restrictions on restaurants by dining on their famous steak frites - right outside the Scottish Parliament building.

Sharing a series of images online the restaurant wrote on Instagram: "Can't eat inside, we will eat outside! No one will stop us!

"Love the scenic Salisbury Crags, mist and the contrast with the colourful red and white tablecloth!"

The staff from the popular Hanover Street restaurant then shared a video of them being 'disturbed' by 'uninvited' police officers who asked them what they were up to.

They wrote: "And then the police came, uninvited, but very nice and supportive, did not want any of our chips, all for the better, they started to be soggy!"

The restaurant recently published a 'recipe on Instagram dubbed "notalockdown" and made by "our great chef Nicola".

Preparation was "two rushed days" with a cost that was "criminally expensive and ruthless".

The method included "suddenly" closing pubs and restaurants so that people can no longer meet anywhere that is "hot, cosy and most importantly regulated", adding a "spice" which happened to be "finding booze shelves well stocked up in supermarkets".
