Leeds United fans have bemoaned the timing of the international break after the club suffered two defensive injuries.
Diego Llorente and Liam Cooper have returned to the Whites earlier than planned due to suffering muscle injuries on international duty.
It could well leave Marcelo Bielsa short on defenders ahead of Monday's game against Wolves.
Whites fans were left unimpressed at how a condensed international break - with three games in under a week for most countries - has impacted clubs.
Spain confirmed on Sunday that recent signing Llorente had been withdrawn from their squad ahead of a game against Ukraine.
The centre-back was an unused substitute in Spain's win over Switzerland on Saturday but he played the full 90 minutes in Wednesday's draw with Portugal.
It appears that Llorente picked up the injury in training, with Spain revealing that both the Leeds defender and Gerard Moreno failed to complete a session.
Cooper, meanwhile, was left out of Scotland's team to face Slovakia on Sunday.
Scotland manager Steve Clarke confirmed that Cooper will miss their game against Czech Republic later this week.
He said: "Unfortunately Liam Cooper has picked up an injury and he will be out for the next two games."
Cooper played 120 minutes in Thursday's European Championship play-off match against Israel, which his country eventually won on penalties.
The 29-year-old has played three times for Leeds this season after missing the opening-day defeat to Liverpool.
Bielsa could well be forced into playing the same backline he did for the game at Anfield, which saw the Whites concede four times in a 4-3 loss.
