'Can't believe it' - Rio Ferdinand and Joe Cole issue verdict on Leeds United draw with Chelsea

Joe Cole could not believe it ended goalless between Leeds United and Chelsea - but Rio Ferdinand felt it was a good result for Marcelo Bielsa's men.

Leeds and Chelsea played out a 0-0 draw in the early Premier League kick-off at Elland Road on Saturday.

The two sides produced 21 shots on goal but could not make a breakthrough.

It was far from boring, though, as both teams were denied by the woodwork, while goalkeepers Illan Meslier and Edouard Mendy both made vital saves.

Leeds also had a goal from Tyler Roberts ruled out for offside against Patrick Bamford.

The result left Leeds in 11th place, with 36 points from their 28 games, while Chelsea remained fourth at the final whistle.

"I still can't believe it was 0-0," former Chelsea ace Cole told BT Sport.

"Both teams (were) pushing forward, throwing bodies forward, chances, both goalkeepers made good saves. It was a good, entertaining game and you wouldn't have got a price on it being 0-0 at the start of the game, the way both teams play.

"But that's what it was and it's two points dropped for Chelsea."

Former Leeds and Manchester United defender Ferdinand added: "Both teams huffed and puffed without any real quality in the final third. I think that was the defining factor in this game - they lacked quality in the final third.

"No-one really created an outright chance where you thought: 'Wow, that's a real clear-cut bread-and-butter chance that's been created from a bit of good play'. That didn't happen today.

"In the final third, the decision-making and quality at that end of the pitch was probably not where the managers would like it to be.

"But I agree with Joe - definitely two points dropped by Chelsea, and I think a good point for Leeds."
