Can Redskins end up boasting NFC East’s best rookie?

Can Montez Sweat or Dwayne Haskins emerge as the best rookie from the NFC East?

The topic of NFC East rookies came up above in the Stick to Football podcast and the hosts naturally brought up both Haskins and Sweat in the discussion.

With Haskins, it hinges on whether he can actually beat Case Keenum for the starting job under center — then play well enough with the surrounding pieces.

Sweat might have a better chance at such an award if his natural traits can excel at the next level immediately, especially while offenses are busy worrying about Ryan Kerrigan.

As far as other prominent NFC East rookies go, Daniel Jones would have to win the job over Eli Manning in New York to enter the competition. Seventeenth pick Dexter Lawrence or 30th pick Deandre Baker could be darkhorse contenders.

Luckily for the Redskins, simply winning the numbers game to enter this award race isn’t the main talking point. Rather, it’s the quality of the rookies drafted, which bodes well for the team’s outlook, with awards like this being secondary.
