Can Monty Rice have an elite season in 2019?

Georgia Bulldogs LB Monty Rice had an impactful 2018 season, but will look to take his game to another level in 2019. Rice recorded 59 total tackles in 2018, including a sack and a forced fumble. Rice was solid and rarely missed tackles in 2018. In fact, he led the SEC in that regard:

Sure-tackling is key for any LB. Rice can add more splash plays in 2019. These come in the form of sacks, interceptions, forced fumbles, and tackles for a loss. The Junior LB got decent playing time both his Freshman and Sophomore seasons, now he will be the one teaching younger LBs the system.

The Georgia Bulldogs lost a lot of talent on the defensive side of the field, but are looking to reload in 2019. Georgia will look to senior linebacker Tae Crowder for some defensive leadership in the front seven. Crowder and Rice have the talent become a dynamic duo in the middle for Georgia this season. Crowder was rated as PFF’s third best returning LB for the upcoming season:
