Can McDonald's Drive-Thru, takeaway and delivery services continue in second lockdown?

If there is one thing people admitted to missing during the first lockdown in March is was there McDonald's fix.

And with a second, four-week lockdown set to begin on Thursday (November 5), it is all change again.

The Prime Minister announced the latest coronavirus action on Saturday evening.

Households are banned from mixing, people must 'stay at home as much as possible' and businesses have been forced to close.

But can McDonald's Drive-Thru, takeaway and delivery services continue in second lockdown?

The fast-food chain has confirmed that all the above will stay open for business so you can still have a treat after your government mandated outdoor exercise or walk.

A spokesperson for McDonald's said: "Following last night’s announcement of a new four week lockdown in England, we have confirmed that our Drive-Thru, takeaway and delivery services can remain open.

"Our dine-in areas will be closed during this period starting on November 5.

"We will continue to follow the guidance and regulations as set out by public health and government authorities and will confirm any changes to our services to our employees first and then our customers."

Under the new government guidance, hospitality venues like restaurants, bars and pubs must close, but can still provide takeaway and delivery services.

However, takeaway of alcohol will not be allowed.
