A driver who was stopped for having a severely damaged tyre in Bolton is set to appear in court.
Police posted about the shock discovery today on Tuesday (September 9).
Officers say the driver was pulled over after spotting the condition of the tyre.
GMP Bolton claim the driver seemed unaware of the problem, asking: “Can I not drive it like that then?”
The force say they also had no licence or insurance. They will appear in court in relation to the alleged offences and the car has been written off.
In a statement, GMP Bolton said: “Transport Unit Officers from E Relief have stopped a vehicle in Bolton owing to the condition of this tyre!! The driver actually asked "Can I not drive it like that then?"
“Unsurprisingly it transpires the driver had no licence or insurance, they have been summoned to court for the offences and the car has been signed over as scrap.”
