Can I leave Nottinghamshire under tier 2 lockdown? The official rules explained

With Nottinghamshire now under a tier two lockdown those who need to travel outside of the county will be concerned about what the new rules mean for them.

The rules, which came into force on Wednesday, October 14, include a ban on households mixing at any indoor setting.

They also include guidance on travel both within and outside of Nottinghamshire.

And there are many reasons why someone might need to travel outside of the county, including work and holidays.

But what do the rules say about such travel?

We've answered some of the most common questions below.

Am I allowed to leave Nottinghamshire under the tier two lockdown?

Yes, you are allowed to leave the county for essential reasons such as work, volunteering, and charitable or youth services, but these journeys should be kept to a minimum.

People should not take trips outside of the county for the purposes of socialising as those who live within a tier two lockdown area are not allowed to mix with other households indoors.

What are the rules if I'm taking a holiday outside of Nottinghamshire?

You are still allowed to go on holiday outside of Nottinghamshire but such trips should only be taken with members of your own household or support bubble.

Those who are planning to travel abroad should make sure they have the latest guidance from the Government, as restrictions on international travel frequently change.

Who can I travel on holiday with?

Any trips outside of the county should only be taken with people from your own household or support bubble.

Can I travel to 'very high' tier three areas like Liverpool?

No, if you live within a tier two area such as Nottinghamshire, you are not allowed to travel to a tier three area like Liverpool. Such areas are considered "very high" risk.

The general rule is that people should not travel to areas where the risk is higher than where they live, except for essential trips.
