'Can I have a kebab please' – police hoax calls revealed

A freedom of information request has revealed the number of children behind hoax calls to South Wales Police.

The request, made by Steve Elibank, originally asked for information on a nuisance call from a lady asking about £1 for a shopping-trolley. South Wales Police released data from ten nuisance calls on 1 September 2009 – including one call in which someone asks for a kebab, and two other calls where children can be heard in the background. Read the transcripts of the calls here.

Earlier this year another freedom of information request revealed the number of hoax calls made to the force for the last two years – which rose from 205 calls in 2007/08 to 1,075 in 2008/09 (the rise was put down to a change in training. See the full request and information provided here.

What do you think about this issue? Should we put in another request to find the transcripts of more calls to find Elibank's shopping trolly lady? Leave your comments below.
