Can gyms in the Liverpool City Region open on Wednesday? Full details and time gyms need to close

The Liverpool City Region will see hundreds of businesses close tomorrow including pubs, bars and gyms due to tougher local lockdown measures coming into force.

From tomorrow the region will be classed as a 'very high risk' area according to the Government's new covid alert level system.

The new rules come into force from midnight which means today is the last day gyms are able to open.

For those worried about not being able to get to gym in the near future, according to the Government's new guidelines outdoor exercise classes and organised sport can still continue.

The Government's website says: "Exercise classes and organised sport can continue to take place outdoors.

"These will only be permitted indoors if it is possible for people to avoid mixing with people they do not live with (or share a support bubble with), or for youth or disability sport."

Leisures centres will also be closing from midnight as well as pubs, betting shops, casinos, adult gaming centres and bars.

Pubs will be allowed to stay open if they can operate solely as a restaurant serving a "substantial meal".
