Pubs that don't serve 'substantial meals' must close on Friday in Greater Manchester as the region enters Tier 3 of the lockdown alert system on Friday at 00.01am.
Other parts of the hospitality sector must also shut under the new measures, the prime minister announced on Tuesday.
But unlike in the Liverpool city region, Boris Johnson did not include gyms in his round up of businesses that will be ordered to close their doors.
It appears to mean that, like in Lancashire which has also been placed in Tier 3, gyms will be able to stay open.
Other entertainment venues, however, will be forced to shut, in line with the 'additional measures taken in Lancashire', the prime minister confirmed.
During the Downing Street press briefing, the PM said: "Pubs and bars must close, unless they are serving substantial meals, households can’t mix in doors, or in most outdoor settings.
"In line with the additional measures taken in Lancashire, casinos, bingo halls, betting shops, adult gaming centres and soft play areas must also close."
What are the other rules in Greater Manchester?
People in Greater Manchester must not meet socially with friends and family indoors - in any setting - unless they are part of the same household or support bubble.

There is also now a ban on meeting people outside your household or support bubble in a private garden - and in many outdoor public spaces such as beer gardens and restaurant terraces.
People will be able to meet up with friends and family they do not live with - in groups of six or fewer - in some places.
They include parks, beaches, public gardens, allotments, outdoor sports courts and facilities and playgrounds.
People can also meet for funerals, up to a maximum of 30 people.
Wakes and other commemorative events are permitted, with up to 15 people present.
