Can dogs eat pancakes? Are they bad for them?

It's one of the days of the year where we can completely indulge in sugary, battery goodness without feeling too bad about it.

Of course, we are talking about Pancake Day, or Shrove Tuesday, which falls on March 5.

But as with all foodie days, pet owners often can't resist giving their dog a little treat too. But should they really be having our pancake day left overs?

A standard pancake batter is flour, eggs and milk, none of which can really upset your dog unless they have allergies or certain sensitivities.

The problem, however, is when we start adding fillings and toppings such as sugar, syrups and the main doggy no no in particular, chocolate.

We all love pancakes - but can they harm dogs? (Daily Record)

Chocolate, raisins and grapes are foods dogs really should avoid but the like of peanut butter (xylitol free), banana and apple are actually more dog friendly.

The Dogs Trust suggest a recipe of flour, eggs and water if you are wanting to make your fur baby a Pancake Day treat.

Other dog friendly toppings include carrot and cucumber or you could even decorate them with their favourite biscuit.

Who says they have to miss out on the fun?
