Can Andrew Luck be QB1 in fantasy football?

Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck enjoyed one of his best seasons in 2018 not only as an actual football player but a fantasy football asset as well.

Luck finished as the QB5 in standard scoring for the 2018 season, one that was marked with elite consistency each week. Now, the question is whether the 29-year-old can reach the ceiling of being QB1, the top baller in the league.

There will be much debate about the topic as the months continue on, but Liz Loza of Yahoo! Sports is a believer that Luck can be the coveted holder of the QB1 spot when the 2019 season is all said and done.

Liz: BELIEVE. Thanks to the restoration of his shoulder, a fortified offensive line (No. 2 in pass protection/18 sacks), and the up-tempo genius of Frank Reich (2.63 TT), Luck SLAYED last season. The fifth most productive fantasy player at the position, the Colts stud QB unleashed on the naysayers and posted top-five stats in the following categories: passing attempts (QB2), red zone attempts (QB3), passing yards (QB5), air yards (QB2), passing TDs (QB2). Most impressively, he did all of that with a depthless receiving corps. Noting the 2019 additions of Devin Funchess, Parris Campbell, and (potentially) Deon Cain, Luck should continue to push the Colts offense forward.”

The pieces are in place for Luck to continue dominance in fantasy football, especially with the current regime running the team.

His offensive line is stout and becoming a deeper unit each season. There is a promising rushing attack being led by the explosive Marlon Mack. He’s running an offense that ran the third-most plays from scrimmage all the while seeing the additions of some new — and potentially dangerous — weapons to the pass-catching corps.

Luck also seems to be well past the shoulder issues that hindered him for three years since initially suffering the labrum tear during the first month of the 2015 season.

The eighth-year signal caller will have immense competition for the QB1 spot. Kansas City’s Patrick Mahomes is the best bet to repeat as the king while Green Bay’s Aaron Rodgers and Houston’s Deshaun Watson are solid plays to compete for the spot.

Luck is in the best situation of his career and while his fantasy finish has yet to be determined, he’s in line to compete heavily for the QB1 spot when its all said and done.
