LUCKNOW: School campuses came back to life after a gap of five months on Monday when students turned up for physical classes after March when schools suspended offline studies due to Covid-19.
The average attendance in most of the private schools was between 40% and 50%, while in missionary schools the attendance was between 15% and 25%. In several schools, red carpets were rolled out for students with a warm welcome by school bands.
“Physical classes are and will always be most preferred as our eyes get less stressed in offline classes and our proper schedule is maintained,” said Faara Nadeem, a Class 11 student of City Montessori School, Rajendranagar branch.
Another Class 11 student of St Joseph School, Ayushi, said: “I don’t want to miss a single offline class and will no be regular to schools.”
“Some of my friends didn’t turn up in the fear that third Covid -19 wave may hit anytime but my parents showed trust in the school authorities,” said Shivam Dixit, a student of Class 10 at Spring Dale College. Physical classes for the students of classes 9, 10, 11 and 12 also started in all the branches of Lucknow Public Schools and Colleges with full Covid-19 protocol. President of Uttar Pradesh Unaided Private Schools Association Anil Agarwal said, “On the first day, attendance in private schools was around 40-50% with a few witnessing turnout up to 75%, while missionary schools recorded low attendance.”
