Camping covidiots reported by police as crowds keep flocking to North Wales

Three men found camping up a North Wales mountain are among the latest people reported for breaching lockdown rules by travelling to the area.

Police found the tent and reported the men - and several other incidents were also picked up across North Wales as people from around England continued to defy the Welsh Government's warning not to cross the border, North Wales Live reports.

A tweet published by the North Wales Police Rural Crime Team today said: "I don’t really know what to say...3 males reported for Covid offences."

Officers also found a campervan in Coed y Brenin near Dolgellau on Saturday which had travelled more than 200 miles from London.

In another tweet, the Rural Crime Team said: "Today we have been patrolling the Coed Y Brenin area near Dolgellau with our colleagues from [Natural Resources Wales].

"Unfortunately we have come across another vehicle with visitors from a far.... This time a campervan from the London area."

A person who travelled 80 miles to go fishing during lockdown was also criticised by North Wales' top cop on Saturday.

Police caught the fishing enthusiast in Conwy, and Chief Constable Carl Foulkes praised officers he said were doing a "great job" enforcing the lockdown rules.

It came after three men from three different addresses were also stopped by officers after travelling over 100 miles from Manchester to Anglesey on Friday.

Later that same day, police also sent two men back home after they travelled more than 125 miles from Stoke-on-Trent to Newborough Beach.

Police checkpoints remain in place again today on the Britannia Bridge and Menai Bridge in a bid to deter people from visiting the island.
