Campbell Hatton reveals Man City boxing plans at Etihad Stadium

Campbell Hatton has revealed his dream of fighting at Manchester City's Etihad Stadium and emulating his father Ricky in the process.

The 20-year-old has his fourth professional bout on Saturday night against Sonni Martinez on the undercard of Anthony Joshua's heavyweight title defence against Oleksandr Usyk.

With a 3-0 record so far, Hatton has made great progress and laid down a solid platform to build upon in the coming years.

While it's still early days, the young fighter has outlined his goal of following in his father Ricky's footsteps and fighting at the home of Pep Guardiola's side.

“It’s always been a dream since I started boxing to go there. Obviously my dad boxed there in his career so that’s definitely something on the bucket list," he told TalkSport.

"The support has been quality and I’m proud of where I come from. I have boxed there [Manchester] once but it was behind closed doors.

“I just can’t wait to have that fight at the arena because my phone goes mad for tickets [every fight]. I think the interest is there and I can’t wait to put on a good show there.”

Campbell also has the weight of his father's name to cope with but believes he's slowly creating his own identity.

“I think as I’m going, the pressure lifts that little bit. I think people see what I’m about, they start to get to know me and I start moving away from being Ricky Hatton’s lad and being Campbell Hatton.

“Obviously it won’t happen overnight, but I think with each one I do start getting more of my own identity.”
