Campbell Hatton responds to Sonni Martinez fight nerves & has message for Anthony Joshua crowd

Campbell Hatton is looking to continue with the progression he has shown so far in his professional boxing career when he enters the ring again on Saturday night.

The 20-year-old boasts a 3-0 record since making his debut earlier this year and is set for a new challenge in a six-round clash with Sonni Martinez.

That fight comes on the undercard of Anthony Joshua's heavyweight title defence against Oleksandr Usyk at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in front of 70,000 fans.

Such support will be by far the biggest that Hatton has had so far in his career and represents a chance to catch the eye once again.

The verdict so far on the son of Ricky Hatton has been encouraging, with the Manchester fighter now widely regarded as Britain's best up and coming boxer.

It's still early days for Hatton though and he's stressed he's just taking it one step at a time but is excited for this opportunity.

“It’s by far the biggest platform that anyone could be put on and I’ve been put on here already so I’m really grateful for this opportunity and I’m looking forward to getting in there," he said in the pre-fight press conference.

"It’s by far the biggest crowd I’ve been in the ring in front of, I’m really excited. The big fight cards I’ve already been on in my career have made me less nervous, it’s going to stand me in good stead going forward.

"This is the calmest I’ve felt. Once everything is done and is out the way, the weigh in and stuff, once it’s just waiting to get in there, you’ll probably see a bit more nerves creep in but each time I’ve got a bit better, more relaxed and composed, I think it’s going to be exactly the same.

"We’re stepping it up to six rounds and I think this is where we’ll start seeing even more improvements.”
