Campbell construction site shut down after structure collapse

A temporary structure collapsed during a concrete pour at the Campbell 5 construction site on Tuesday

A Campbell construction site has been shut down for at least a week after a temporary structure collapsed during a concrete pour on Tuesday afternoon.

One person was taken to hospital after the incident at JWLand's Campbell 5 construction site about 3.30pm.

The individual was discharged from hospital shortly after.

WorkSafe ACT issued a "non-disturbance" notice over the Constitution Avenue site, which means no construction work can be done until the sanction is lifted. That might not happen for a week or more, the regulator said.

"WorkSafe has initiated investigations which include interviewing people on site and examining the circumstances of the incident," it said.

"The investigation is ongoing and includes the engagement of a specialised structural engineer to advise WorkSafe and to ensure the investigation can be undertaken safely."

In social media posts on Wednesday morning, JWLand said WorkSafe ACT was called to the site immediately after the incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon. The regulator returned on Wednesday to complete its investigation, the developer said.

"As the developer, please be rest assured that JWLand is committed to delivering high quality reputable buildings," the post read.

"We will continue to provide further updates as information becomes available."
