A four-month campaign by the Bridgwater Mercury may result in the creation of a new pedestrian crossing. More than 1,000 people have signed the paper's "Road to Safety" petition, which started after an 11-year-old boy was badly injured in an accident while crossing the A38 in North Petherton. Now, after months of pressure, the town council and Somerset county highways chiefs have agreed to carry out a feasibility study. (Via Bridgwater Mercury)
