The second of two young men killed in separate shootings in London within the space of 24 hours has been named.

Camilo Palacio, 23, suffered a fatal gunshot wound to the chest on High Road, Wood Green, at about 9.30pm on Sunday.

Police, including firearms officers, immediately provided first aid until the arrival of London’s Air Ambulance and paramedics.

Mr Palacio, from Enfield, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene 30 minutes later.

His next of kin are aware and are being supported by specialist officers. There have been no arrests and enquiries continue.

The death follows another shooting just over four miles away in Waltham Forest.

Sam Brown, 28, took himself to hospital after being blasted at a gathering in Cheney Row Park.

He later died and a murder investigation was launched. One man, in his 30s, has been arrested.

Detective Chief Inspector Perry Benton, leading the Wood Green investigation, said: “My officers are very keen to hear from anyone who can help us identify the person responsible for Camilo’s death.

“A young man’s life has been brutally ended on a public street and a family is now struggling to come to terms with their loss – if ever there was a time to break the wall of silence, this is it.

“If you have information, dash-cam or mobile phone footage relating to this murder, no matter how small or insignificant it may seem, please do the right thing and get in touch.

“It doesn’t matter if you contact us in person or anonymously via Crimestoppers - but please share what you know.”

The two fatal shootings follow another killing in the early hours of July 19, when 26-year-old Daneche Tison was shot outside a block of flats on Bruckner Street, Queen’s Park, west London.

Seven people were arrested over the death and later released under investigation.

Up until then, there had been no firearms killings in London since October 31 last year.

In 2021, there were 12 fatal shootings among a total of 134 homicides recorded by the Met Police.

Earlier this year, in April, the force said it had seen a reduction in gun crime, with the number of all shootings, including fatal and non-fatal, down from 283 in 2019/20 to 196 in 2021/22.

Anyone with information is asked to call the incident room on 0208 358 0400 or 101, quoting 7238/24Jul, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
