Camilla's 'cruel nickname' for Meghan Markle after she quit royal family

Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, had a cruel nickname for Meghan Markle after she and Prince Harry stepped down as senior royals, an expert has claimed.

Royal biographer Tom Bower claims that Camilla would often refer to Meghan as "that minx" - the name given to someone who is highly flirtatious, cunning and in all, can't be trusted - after growing increasingly frustrated with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's public criticisms of the royal family, Birmingham Live reports.

Meghan and Prince Harry stepped down as senior royals in January 2020 and moved to California, where they have been working on separate projects to become financially independent.

Their withdrawal was followed by a number of negative comments about their experience being in the Royal Family, including a lack of support and racial treatment in the media, which Camilla was not happy with.

When Meghan and Harry began to criticise the Royal Family in the press, Camilla reportedly 'provided the comfort and good advice' to reassure Prince Charles 'that had done the best he could' as a dad.

It was also during this period of 'endless, tortured and inconclusive conversations' that Camilla started to refer to Meghan as 'that minx'.

However, it is now believed that Camilla and Meghan have never seen eye-to-eye, according to The Sun.

Early on in her relationship with Prince Harry, Camilla was allegedly "suspicious" of Meghan, and her commitment to her royal duties.

"From the outset, Camilla was suspicious about the adventuress from Los Angeles," Mr Bower said.

"She found it hard to believe that Meghan would sacrifice her career and independence to serve silently as a team player devoted to the monarchy."

While Mr Bower claims that Camilla typically remained fairly 'tight-lipped' when discussing Meghan, she couldn't help but use the nickname from time to time.

And this isn't the only nickname Meghan has been given by a royal family member.

Prince Charles also invented a rather unusual nickname for her and even used it to her face before she withdrew as senior royal, according to journalist Christine-Marie Liwag Dixon.

According to The Mail on Sunday, Meghan was initially named 'Tungsten' by Prince Charles, because of her "resilient nature."

"Prince Charles admires Meghan for her strength and the backbone she gives Harry, who needs a tungsten-type figure in his life as he can be a bit of a softie. It’s become a term of endearment," a source told the publication.
