Camila Cabello joins Cinderella musical movie from James Corden

We are about to get another Cinderella in a new musical film.

Variety has confirmed that Sony Pictures are producing the new take on Cinderella, which will star the former Fifth Harmony member Camila Cabello.

Cabello's Cinderella will be a song-filled take on the story of an orphan forced into a life as a servant for her evil stepmother.

It is currently unknown who else will feature in the film's cast and whether other musical artists will play a role in the movie.

The film will be scripted by Emmy-nominated writer Kay Cannon, best known for her work on sitcom 30 Rock and her directorial debut Blockers, which was released last year and starred John Cena and Leslie Mann.

The project came about as an idea from writer-actor-presenter James Corden, who will also produce the film.

Cabello has had a hit solo career since leaving Fifth Harmony, with smash hit songs such as Havana and Never Be the Same.

Corden recently voiced Peter Rabbit in the animated film released last year, whilst also having a role in Ocean's Eight.

He is also currently the host of The Late Late Show With James Corden.

Cinderella was recently tackled in 2015 in a live-action remake of the 1950 animated Disney classic, directed by Sir Kenneth Branagh and starring Lily James, Richard Madden, and Cate Blanchett, which was released to box office success.

The Cinderella musical does not currently have a release date.
